UB Giving Day 2021

Evviva Lajoie, vice provost for University Libraries, has generously agreed to match all gifts, dollar for dollar, made in support of the University Libraries Student Employee Award (up to $2,500).

Sam Savarino, BA ’85, will match all gifts, dollar for dollar, to the Arts Collaboratory’s Grants program (up to $30,000)

Dr. Judith Kerman has spent her career in the humanities and understands the value of critically engaging society through the lens of the humanities and technology. She has created a dollar for dollar match for anyone interested in supporting the UB Humanities Institute up to $5,000.

Dr. Harvey Starr, ’67, challenges other political science alumni to support the department. Dr. Starr has generously agreed to match all gifts, dollar for dollar, made to the political science department, up to $5,000.

Several members of the Graduate School of Education Dean’s Advisory Council have come together to offer a match for Giving Day. For every 20 donors that make a gift to the Graduate School of Education Equity, Diversity, Justice and Inclusion (EDJI) Fund, $1,000 will be unlocked, up to $5,000.

Robin, MBS '82, BS '82, and Audrey, MBS'83, BS '82, Hunter challenge Graduates of the Last Decade to support the UB Fund for the School of Management. When a graduate from the last 10 years makes a gift, the Hunters will match it dollar-for-dollar, up to $5,000.

If 75 donors make a gift to the Social Innovation Fund, the UB School of Social Work Dean’s Advisory Council will unlock an additional $15,000 for the program.

Bob Farwell, EdM '75, BA '71, and Susan Farwell, EdM '76, will match all gifts dollar for dollar made to the Department of Counseling, School and Educational Psychology (up to $1,000).

An anonymous donor will match dollar-for-dollar, up to $50,000 to the School of Engineering and Applied Science student emergency fund.

An anonymous donor is matching all gifts to the Honors College Experiential Learning Fund dollar for dollar, up to a total of $50,000! The Honors Experiential Learning Fund provides Honors College students the financial support they need to gain valuable educational experiences. Your gift of $1,500 could help an Honors student study abroad; $1,000 could help an Honors student underwrite their own research; or $500 could allow an Honors student to travel to a conference and create valuable career networks. Regardless of the amount, your gift will be doubled!

Fr. Pat Keleher will generously match all gifts dollar for dollar (up to $15,000) made to any UB Poetry Collection fund in honor of National Poetry Month, April 2021.

When 50 donors give to the School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Richard Andolina Sr. and Dr. Edward Kirk will give $13,000.

For every 15 faculty and staff donors to the Student Emergency Fund, Laura Hubbard, vice president for finance and administration will generously donate $1,000 (up to $5,000).

Dr. Chandra Bhansali, PhD ’80, and Sharada Bhansali, MS '77, MS '76, are challenging other School of Engineering and Applied Science alumni and friends to support students in need. When 100 donors make a gift to the School of Engineering and Applied Science Student Emergency Fund, they will donate an additional $5,000 to the fund.

Members of the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Executive Committee have agreed to match all gifts, dollar for dollar, made to the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Fund (up to $5,000). The new fund will provide assistance for students from diverse backgrounds, as well as support programs such as guest lectures and faculty and staff development seminars.

Bortolami Gallery believes in creative collaboration and supports UB’s Arts Collaboratory, a space and a place for synergy and experimentation, where innovation sparks, and where Buffalo-based artists share their work with the world. For every ten donors who support the Arts Collaboratory on UB Giving Day, Bortolami Gallery will donate $5,000, up to a total of $40,000.

Mark Zmijewski (Ph.D '83, MBA, '81, BS, '76) wishes to honor Frank Krzystofiak and encourage Frank's former students by generously matching all gifts to the Professor Frank J. Krzystofiak Teaching Innovation Fund, dollar for dollar. *If this gift intention is to support an endowment fund, unless otherwise restricted by the gift instrument pursuant to paragraph (b) of Section 553 of the Not-for-Profit Corporation Law, the institution may expend so much of the endowment fund as it deems prudent after considering the factors set forth in paragraph (a) of Section 553 of the Not-for-Profit Corporation Law.

Fred Saia, CEL ‘88, BA ‘76, will match all gifts dollar for dollar (up to $10,000) made to the School of Management Social Impact Fellows Fund or the School of Social Work Social Innovation Fund, which supports the Social Impact Fellows program. This program brings together MBA, MSW and College of Arts and Sciences graduate students for an internship at a mission-driven organization, where they collaborate to address pressing social issues and make an impact.

Graham Hammill, Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Graduate School, will donate $2,500 to the Graduate Research Enhancement Fund when 35 donors also make a gift to support graduate education and research.

Gifts to the School of Engineering and Applied Science Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Initiatives fund will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $100,000.

Dean Kemper Lewis and school senior leadership will match gifts to the School of Engineering and Applied Science student emergency fund, up to $3,500

Marc and Jorrie Bruffett match dollar for dollar up to $5,000 gifts to the Tauke-Lamarche Scholarship Fund in the School of Architecture and Planning.

When 125 donors give anywhere to the School of Public Health and Health Professions, Dean Wactawski-Wende and Karl Wende will generously donate $5,000 to the SPHHP Student Diversity Fund,

When 300 donors living overseas make a gift to UB—in any amount, an anonymous alumnus donor will give $20,000 to the university.

Dean Paul Tesluk challenges advisory board members and council members to make a gift on Giving Day. The board with the highest percentage of members participating (making a gift on Giving Day), will receive $2,500 to the program for which the board serves.
