College of Arts and Sciences

“What problem do you want to solve?” That’s the bold question we put to students and faculty. It’s the question of a lifetime, because choosing an important problem—then working to solve it—creates lifelong fulfillment and makes powerful contributions possible. Learning by doing is the key to students' success both during and after their time at UB. The College of Arts and Sciences encourages students to take advantage of the life-changing opportunities happening around them every day.

Through unique, hands-on experiences, students grow into active global citizens focused on problem-solving, creative innovation, and collaborative civic engagement. They develop the self-confidence and critical thinking skills required to navigate an ever-evolving job market.

tudents work with Jonathan Shimon, professor in the Department of Theatre and Dance, in the Drama Theatre at the Center for the Arts.

With support from philanthropy, we’re continuing to find answers to the world’s most pressing questions.
