UB Giving Day 2026

An anonymous donor will generously triple your impact with a 2‑to‑1 match! Every gift to the newly established Tutoring & Academic Support Services Resource Fund will be matched two dollars for every one you give, up to $500 per donor (and up to $2,000 total). Your gift will directly support programs that serve more than 18,000 students each year through tutoring and similar services that encourage academic success. Help ensure every student has access to the resources they need — exactly when they need it!

Laura Hubbard, Vice President for Finance and Administration, has generously committed to a special 2:1 Giving Day match for UB faculty and staff. For every $1 contributed by faculty or staff to Blue Table or the Student Life Student Emergency Fund, Laura will contribute $2, tripling the impact of your gift. Each individual gift will be matched up to $500, with the overall match totaling up to $7,500. Your support—multiplied through this generous match—will provide essential resources for students facing food insecurity and unexpected financial hardship. Together, we can make sure every student has what they need to stay safe, healthy, and focused on their education.

The GSE Alumni Association invites you to support the UB Fund for GSE and will match all gifts dollar for dollar, up to $1,000. All donors are encouraged to give at any level, but the Board especially hopes to inspire recent GSE graduates—those who have just completed their programs and can clearly see how support from the UB Fund may have strengthened their experience.

Dean Annette Wysocki has agreed to generously match all gifts dollar for dollar, made to the Julia Buscaglia Student Emergency Fund in the School of Nursing (up to $2,500).

Robert E. Walker, ’71 and an anonymous donor will combine their efforts this year to match gifts to the James Joyce Museum Fund, dollar for dollar up to $1,800.

President Tripathi will generously match any gift 1:1 made by young alumni (up to $7,500)

Dean Araujo will donate $200 to the Dr. Sebastian Ciancio Professorship Fund for every donor who makes a gift to the Dental School on Giving Day - up to $10,000.

For every 20 donors who give to the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department Fund, the Dean's Advisory Board will donate $2,000 (up to $6,000).

Dean Jean Wactawski-Wende and her husband Dr. Karl Wende will donate $65 every time someone gives to the School of Public Health on Giving Day (up to $5,000).

For every donor that gives to the Biomedical Engineering Department Fund a generous alumnus and career Biomedical Engineer has committed to give $1,000 (up to $10,000) to the Dr. Robert E. Mates Scholarship Fund supporting BME students.

When 10 donors make a gift of any amount to the Steven L. Shaw Memorial International Student Emergency Fund, Mr. Alan Kahn, BA ’92, will unlock an additional $1,000 in support—instantly amplifying the impact of your generosity.

Leanne (Caffiero) Pressly and Beth (Caffiero) Smietana—daughters of the late Dr. Alfred Caffiero, beloved Rehabilitation Science faculty member and founder of the DPT White Coat Ceremony—have generously pledged to match all gifts to the Alfred T. Caffiero White Coat Ceremony Fund, dollar for dollar, up to $4,500. Their support honors Dr. Caffiero’s enduring legacy and ensures that the meaningful White Coat milestone he established continues to inspire and elevate future generations of young professionals.

Dr. John Bodkin II, ’76, will match all gifts 3:1—up to $25,000—to support the Buffalo Primary Care Initiative Endowed Scholarship. This initiative helps place physicians on Buffalo’s East and West sides, where they are needed most, while reducing financial barriers for medical students committed to serving communities with significant health care needs. The School of Management Alumni Association (SOMAA) has recently committed $25,000 in support of the Marc A. Adler Scholarship Fund. SOMAA has also generously agreed to match all gifts, dollar for dollar, to the Marc A. Adler Scholarship Fund (up to $1,000) during Giving Day. This fund honors Marc A. Adler—an alumnus of the School of Management, dedicated volunteer, and former adjunct faculty member—whose commitment to students and service continues to inspire our community.

The MSRED Advisory Committee will match all gifts to the Real Estate Development Support Fund, up to $2,000, with matching available on gifts up to $500 per donor—ensuring your generosity goes twice as far while helping us reach our goal together.

For every $1,000 raised for the Football Excellence Fund, Head Coach Pete Lembo and his wife, Jen, will contribute an additional $1,000 (up to $10,000). Go Bulls!

To encourage giving across the Graduate School of Education, Jill Szczesek Ph.D. '20, will make a donation of $10,000 to the GSE General Fund once GSE reaches 30 donors for Giving Day. Gifts can be made to any fund, in any department, and at any level within the Graduate School of Education. If a donor is unsure which fund to support, Jill invites you to consider the GSE General Fund as well. The GSE General Fund powers the ideas and opportunities that move our school forward.

When 25 donors make a gift to the Fund for Underrepresented Nursing Students, her support will be unlocked—expanding scholarships, mentoring, and career development opportunities for underrepresented nursing students.

The Chemical & Biological Engineering Department Advisory Board is leading the way with a special Giving Day Challenge. For every 10 donors who make a gift to the Chemical & Biological Engineering Department Fund, the Advisory Board will contribute $1,000 — up to $6,000. Every donor counts. The Dean’s Council will give $4,600 if 50 donors give to any fund in the School of Social Work on UB Giving Day.
