Every year, hundreds of nameless geese flock to UB campuses North, South and Downtown. As students trek across campus, our (sometimes) ferocious feathered friends wander without an identity. Now is your chance to officially name a University at Buffalo goose. For a gift of $18.46 or more (honoring our founding year) to the UB Fund or the UB Fund for any school, you can give one of these campus legends a name—and make a life-changing difference for UB students.

When you name a goose, you'll receive an exclusive digital certificate recognizing your generosity. Frame it and display it with pride; share it on social media; or save it as a family heirloom to pass down for generations. By adopting a goose, you will also be granted the unofficial authority to point at any goose, on any UB campus and address it by its new name.
While this adoption opportunity is symbolic, your impact is real. Your gift directly supports UB students and will be used to provide scholarships, student emergency funds, educational opportunities and so much more!
Waddle I do to adopt a goose?
- Click on the 'Give Now' button and make a gift of at least $18.46 to the UB Fund or the UB Fund for any school/unit (i.e.: the UB Fund for the College of Arts and Sciences, UB Fund for Student Life, etc.).
- At checkout you will be able to submit your goose's name.
- Shortly after completing your gift you will receive an email from our "Goose Adoption Council" with your digital adoption certificate.

- Choose Wisely: To keep our UB community welcoming, all names are vetted for respect and school spirit. Silly puns are welcome, but inappropriate names will be sent back, so please no fowl language.
- Certificate Timing: Our Goose Adoption Council is working hard to get you your digital adoption certificate as soon as possible. Please allow them 3-4 hours to vet your name selection and create your certificate.
- Nightly Nesting: Our team returns to their nests at night to rest their feathers. If you make your gift after 5:00 p.m., your personalized digital certificate will arrive in your inbox the following morning.
- Symbolic Adoption: We can't find nametags that will stick to their feathers, so your adoption and naming rights are purely a symbolic gesture of your UB pride.
